Features:

  • Picture-in-picture: This enables user to manage two tasks simultaneously.
  • Notification dots: This enables the apps to show multiple notification with three dot extend view.
  • Auto fill: This functionality helps users, to keep records of their form data entry so that next time they filled by default next time.

As Google I/O 2017 Android Vitals has already introduced a program that focus on ANR (Application Not Responding) and Crash management. Similarly For optimizing overall app performance some background enhancement is introduced.

Background limits: For background limits the app resources team added a new concurrent compacting garbage collection, code locality that collect and free the unnecessary resource consumption in the background.

Autosizing textview: By using this feature now developers can fill any amount of text.This text will grow and shrink to fill the available TextView space.

Fonts in XML: Fonts are now a fully supported resource type. You can now use fonts in XML layouts and define font families in XML.

Shortcut pinning: App shortcuts and home screen widgets are great for engaging users and now you can let users add and pin shortcuts and widgets to the launcher from within your app. There’s also a new option to add a specialized activity to help users create shortcuts. The activity is complete with custom options and confirmation.


WebView enhancements: In Android Oreo, Google enabled WebView multiprocess mode by default and added an API to let your app handle errors and crashes. You can also opt in your app’s WebView objects to verify URLs through Google Safe Browsing.
