CERT-IN raise concern over Apple Software!

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, or CERT-IN, has flagged multiple vulnerabilities in Apple software products and given them a severity rating of ‘High’ in an advisory dated August 2.

“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DOS) and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted system,” said CERT-IN in the advisory.

A Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is functional organisation of ministry of electrnoics and information technology, govt. of India. CERT-In provides Incident prevention and response service as well as security quality management services.

What are the objectives of CERT-In?

In the Information Technology Amendment Act 2008, CERT-In has been designated to the following functions in the area of cyber security:

Collection,analysis and dissemination of information on cyber incidents.
Forecast and alerts of cyber security incidents
Emergency measures for handling cyber security incidents
Coordination of cyber incident response activities.
Issue guidelines,advisories,vulnerability notes and whitepapers relating to infor
prevention,response and reporting of cyber incidents.
Such other functions relating to cyber security as may be prescribed
